A Mechanism to Initiate and Sustain Conversations
Visual Presentation
University departments utilise surveys to assess student life and improve the overall campus experience. However, declining response rates make it increasingly difficult to gather accurate data, as traditional surveys often lack engagement and students are reluctant to participate.
To address this, we developed a survey system that prioritises initiating the conversation. By introducing Bramber, an animated guide within an on-site campus exploration game, the experience begins with storytelling rather than simply asking questions. This approach encourages students to participate in the survey more naturally while fostering a meaningful connection and conversation between them and the campus as they explore.
The entire survey system is web-based, requiring no downloads. Participants can easily access the experience using their own phones by scanning QR codes on posters located at event stations. This project was created by Rosie Jones, Helen McGlead, Haohan Cui and Xiao Zhang.
