2026: Joanne McFall – Folk Conversation for All: Exploring the Art of Faerie Fiction

Joanne McFall is an established writer and presenter from south-east Ireland. Holding honours BA and MA degrees she is currently completing a PhD at Warnborough in the field of Creative Writing – specialising in faery folklore of Britain and Ireland. She has contributed writing to several journals and has presented a folklore series for radio stations in Ireland and Canada. She has facilitated workshops, talks and programmes for a wide range of groups including international and corporate. Her book Beyond the Forest Floor has featured in outlets such as WeLoveReading UK and Irish Fest Milwaukee USA.

She has presented on themes of Irish culture and heritage for channels in the UK and South Africa. She has presented for the Costa Tropical Cherry Expo Event on the topic of food and landscape in Celtic culture. She has also written for the stage having composed a piece on Irish mythology and landscape performed at the Glens Theatre which was read by esteemed actors and directors. She has worked as an ambassador and writer for environmental protection agencies such as Crann and We Forest. The aim of this presentation is to explore the importance of folk and faerie lore as a means of starting new conversations. It would appeal to a multicultural audience, including varying ages.
