Cooper, Casey - Bake for Britain
My work looks at Britain's obsession with food and its effect on the waste we unnecessarily produce. I wanted to create a series of images that at first appear appealing but on closer inspection reveal the grotesque reality of our throw away culture. I used baked goods to represent the perishable lifestyle we all lead, I want my work to make people stop and think and to make a change, to stop wasting food and think of other ways to reuse it instead.
Johnson, Amelia - La Menstruacion
"Menstruation is the only blood not born from violence, yet it's the one that disgusts you the most." I'm tired of menstruation being a taboo topic. 49.6% of the world's population are women,so why are we shown blue liquid being poured onto pads and tampons on TV adverts? Apparently it's okay to sell what's in between a woman's legs but not it's inner workings? Art can change people, people can change the world.
