Featured Presenter – Markus Feichter

Markus Feichter is the Founder of the World Open Brain (WOB) school in South Tyrol, Italy. He is a pedagogical expert and teacher for sustainable creative learning. In this role, he also set up a teacher training institute and set himself the goal of sustainable pedagogy with a strong connection to life and nature. He attaches great importance to alternative pedagogical methods, such as the pedagogy of Rudolf Steiner, Maria Montessori, and others. He further developed this pedagogy in his school and put it into practice. In this way, he not only supports students but also the teachers and parents involved. In this activity, he has given practical learning and project learning a large part in his curriculum. Alternative outcome-oriented exams with a portfolio should also integrate more human-friendly quality checks and assessments. Not only school should motivate and empower all stakeholders, but as well exams should also do this!

The quality of education becomes even more visible in times of crisis. And in the (pan)pandemic time you can see if education is more sustainable and viable for the needed future as well in times of disruption. Education should be with hand, head, and heart and well-balanced for the future, that means including the green deal, inclusivity, and a possible digitalization. The prominent use of practical training in life and learning in agriculture, arts, and crafts. Not just online education or theoretical presence in the classroom, is evidently more important than ever, education should get strongly connected to the real life. Markus Feichter shows possible preventive experiences and learning also in the sustainability of nutrition and the body’s well-being.
