Competition Topic: How Art Moves Me

In conjunction with CArtsCon 2018, we have a schools art competition to engage schoolgoers to think creatively and critically about the theme.

Who Can Enter?

The competition is open to all primary and secondary school students in the Canterbury district in the following Year groups:

  1. Years 4 to 6
  2. Years 7 to 9
  3. Years 10 to 13

What to Submit

A picture that illustrates how art moves you. The artist can decide what ‘art’ and ‘move’ mean. Each entry must have a title and a brief description (maximum 150 words). Only one entry per student, please.

Entrants can submit the work as a JPG or GIF or PNG upload using this entry form.

Note: Due to the volume of submissions in 2017, we will require ALL submissions to be made online. If your work is chosen, we will ask you to bring it in for exhibition purposes.

Materials

Your entry must be two-dimensional. You may use any materials, techniques or processes (e.g. drawing, painting, printmaking, textiles, photography, collage, montage, CAD).  Maximum size is A2.

Exhibition and Prizes

1 final entry will be chosen from each school in each age group to be exhibited throughout the duration of the Conference.

Prizes are kindly sponsored by local businesses. Sponsors for 2017 include Flying Tiger of Copenhagen, WH Smith, and Wilko. The Lord Mayor of Canterbury will present prizes to the winners at the opening reception of CArtsCon on July 10, 2018.  All other artworks will be photographed or scanned and available to view on the CArtsCon website under participating school logos.

The judging panel is led by Dr Peter Gregory, FRSA CollT NLG (Principal Lecturer of Creative Arts Education, Canterbury Christchurch University).
