Competition Topic: The Bridge of My Life
In conjunction with CArtsCon 2020, we have a schools art competition to engage schoolgoers to think creatively and critically about the theme.
Who Can Enter?
The competition is open to all primary and secondary school students in the Canterbury district in the following Year groups:
- Years 1 to 3
- Years 4 to 6
- Years 7 to 9
- Years 10 to 13
What to Submit
A bridge joins two sides together. It can be a physical bridge that lets you go from place to another. It could be a person whose presence or assistance enables you to do something. You, as the artist, can decide what the word ‘bridge’ means to you and your life. We would like you to represent this ‘bridge’ through the medium of art.
Each entry must have a title and a brief description (maximum 150 words). Only one entry per student, please.
All work must be submitted as a clear JPG or GIF or PNG upload using this entry form.
Note: Due to the volume of submissions in previous competitions, we will require ALL submissions to be made online. If your work is chosen, we will ask you to bring it in for exhibition purposes.
Materials
Your entry must be two-dimensional. You may use any materials, techniques or processes (e.g. drawing, painting, printmaking, textiles, photography, collage, montage, CAD). Maximum size is A3.
Exhibition and Prizes
1 final entry will be chosen from each school in each age group to be exhibited throughout the duration of the Conference.
There will be:
- An overall winner
- 2 runners-up
Prizes are kindly sponsored by local businesses.
(The main sponsors for 2019 were Edge Framing, Cowling and Wilcox and Warnborough College.)
The judging panel is led by Dr Peter Gregory, FRSA CollT NLG (Principal Lecturer of Creative Arts Education, Canterbury Christchurch University).
