What go you see when you hear the word "princess". You would usually imagine the human personification of the was "perfect".
We commonly imagine princesses constantly pretty and jumper up in fluttery dresses and smiles that can light up rooms.
But to be even near perfect, requires trial and error.

What I have done is drawn two brains of when I was eight and now. Each section of the brain has a meaning, for example the biggest section is what I think about the most. The way I did it was by drawing it and when I shacked it i smudged it. The reason I did it is because it is showing the two perspective of my thoughts at different ages. It is the past and present of life.

My piece is about a young girl who follows her dreams of becoming a ballerina. I chose to do this because I love ballet. The reason behind the blue in both sides of my piece is that it is such a pure colour. Blue is also very uplifting and bright. The piece is meant to show how the young girl starts off with a single pair of ballet slippers then becomes a skillful ballerina who performs on grand stages. This proves that anything is possible and that you don't have to take the easy path. If you want something, it will take a lot of determination but the end result will be worth it. I used a gold foil to highlight freatures that emphasized her passion.

The idea for my painting cam from a game that I played in my Form in school. Called "We are more alike my friends, than we are unalike". The goal of it was to get as many people as you can onto one table, so I took that idea and I revered it so it so it shows that people in todays society take walking, running etc. For granted. on one side of my painting it shows a disabled man sitting in a wheelchair and he is watching other people play a American Football game. He really wants to play but he can't due to his problem. One kid in the painting is looking up at him on the hill and he can see his problem. This happens while the teens in the background are playing the game. This shows that everyone has their differences, and it's not a bad thing.

For my competition idea I chose to do the opposite from the Greek story pandoras box. In the story she opens opens the box and all the bad spirits come out, but in my picture, the happy spirits come out. The materials I used in the picture were glitters and bright colour pens. Underneath the heart shaped words i put foam squares to make the worlds lift as they are the most important thing on the page. To make this, I sketched out the design, and coloured pandora in dull colours. Then painted around her, with watered down paint. Then, the glitter lines and the words. Lastly, the dark mist around pandora, used with chalks. I got the idea by thinking about story's that can be switched around. I didn't want to showcase someone being depressed and upset. I wanted to show someone on the happy side of life.

My picture is an image of a girl sitting against a tree and reflecting on two sides of life. It shows that people have a different side and not everyone is the same person when they are around family and friends compared to who they are when they are alone. I used plain paper, coloring pencils and highlighters and I made the tree and the girl into a silhouette and I used the trunk of the tree to part the paper and then I drew things either side to represent it meant. I drew this to show others that not everyone is the same person inside, to what they are on the outside.

For this art competition, I am trying to portray the image and feeling that some times we try to hide and not show our emotions. This means other people have to look in different places to find these emotions. This is a Different Story because, as their life may look nice on the outside, for the person living the life it is a different story and they could be suffering inside. To create this I have found a lego man with a 2 sided head and then placed it in front of a mirror. I experienced some trouble with the mirror because it had to be angled down for the correct reflection. I resolved this by placing a towel on the ground. After taking the photos, I added a vignette (darker borders), lowered the exposure, increased the contrast, blurred the unimportant areas and added a liner focus to the faces.

Lucy Cooper: Year 8Title: InsideoutSt Anselm Catholic School
The title of my piece is Insideout because I have represented emotions using color for the outside and inside. For the thought scribbles around the head I used water color paints. For the face on the left I used acrylic paint to look like makeup which the girl is using to cover up the real her. For the face on the right I used sad colors to represent her mood on the inside. So the difference of emotions links to a different story theme. I also showed the mood with words in the thought scribbles.

The drawing I have done is the story of Tutankhamun when he was on the throne. He was hated because his dad changed the God's and moved the capital of Egypt to the temple of the sun God. The story I am trying to do is that king Tutankhamun or tut for short was not famous when he was on throne, but when we found him, we celebrated that he changed the Gods. I have drawn and an ox which is his bed in the top right because he needs his furniture in the afterlife. The same reason why I have put his chariot because he needs it in war in the afterlife. The same reason why I have put his chariot because he needs it in war in the afterlife.

On the right side is a little boy in a frog suit. On the left is a mirror with blood splatters covering it and in the mirror a reflection of the killer.
I used charcoal for the split page and the mirror, the child and area around him were in watercolours and the killer in pencil.
Well it can have two stories : How a young, innocent child who likes frogs can still get brutally murdered, or, How a young innocent child who seems happy but his mental state says different and can easily turn into a serial killer.

When i started the first thing that came to my head was a girl with two different faces (one being a mask)
I got a large piece of paper and started drawing what came to my head. I used some tenices like shading.
I strived to show that there's two sides to her shes putting on a happy mask but when she takes it off the real sad her shows.
