KArtsCon2024: MagnaFaith Krimi – The Igbo, Hausa, and Yoruba Traditional Attire

MagnaFaith Krimi identifies as a Nigerian American Female. Krimi hails from Jen, Taraba State, Nigeria and serves as a well-rounded global executive leader, community builder and an influence strategist.

Krimi has proven expertise in media, organizational leadership, project management and technology practices. She provides mentorship and training for youth and women under United Nations and African Union affiliated organizations. She specializes in maximizing individuals and group talent through setting strategies, team building, and resource optimization.

While Faith is recognized as expert for huge organizations across international borders, she successfully achieved relationships with outreach international organizations. Advocating for women and the girl child in Africa, Krimi provides capacity structure, invests herself in community driven initiatives, humanitarian work and advocacy as a media expert. Committed to education, community service, and solutions for socio-economic growth sustainability, she founded JK Academy, an elementary and secondary school in Nigeria. Krimi has become a mobilizer and bridge builder partnering with various global agencies, through her media platform WarDesk News, facilitating improvement of the quality of life of the girl child in War-torn Northern Nigeria and the rest of West Africa.

Krimi’s work focuses on matters of terrorism, domestic violence, ethnic conflict and war. She provides culturally competent programs to local and international communities, representing and promoting peace. She serves as Global Ambassador, African Global Center, Vice President, Global Progressive Women’s Network, Advisory Board Member, Save the Persecuted Christians, Ambassador, 1000 African Women Network, Member, Women Speakers Association USA, Vice President, Center for NGO’s and Citizens Engagement and Chair BOD, Jonathan Krimi Foundation amongst other designations. Through cooperative collaborations, she hosts events and facilitates conferences in Africa. Under the umbrella of the African Union, her team facilitated the 1st Annual STEM Camp for children of African descent in the District of Columbia.

Krimi has written several articles on counter-terrorism and conflict resolution to promote peace in Nigeria. She has presented lectures at several institutions like the University of Ibadan, Strayer University, University of Ilorin, and Lead City University amongst others. She is a recipient of several humanitarian and leadership awards. Married with three beautiful children, MagnaFaith Krimi is an astute community leader, mentor and a global change agent.

An obvious resurgence of interest in traditional attires by indigenous Africans around the world; showcases the significance of cultural identity. This abstract focuses on the Igbo, Hausa, and Yoruba ethnic groups of Nigeria. As each ethnic group’s attire is not merely a garment, but a canvas reflecting beauty, historical narratives and aesthetic values. This study explores the artistic elements and craftsmanship of Igbo, Hausa, and Yoruba attire, essentially highlighting their role in cultural preservation and artistic innovation.
