Presentation: Art in Education and Society: The Transforming Role of Art

Presented together with Dallendyshe Metalia and Elva Tobli

Everyone seeks the answer to this question: What is art? And how does it influence education and society? Art is that which astonishes, elevates, and transports you into its realm. It has the power to shift you into another dimension. Art is subjective, varying with each individual’s knowledge and skill, involving you as an observer, viewer, or recipient. Art is simply the embodiment of knowledge that resonates with the human spirit.

Teaching through art can visually simplify complex concepts, making them easier to grasp. Art poses challenges for learners at all levels. Studies in various Albanian schools have demonstrated that the integration of art in education and the teaching process fosters greater creativity and imagination in students.

Art is the profoundest expression of human creativity. As a mode of expression, art is also a form of knowledge. Unintentionally, art reflects our lives and prompts self-discovery.

Firstly, art can be a catalyst for dialogue, thus a marker of sociability. Engaging in conversation about art can lead to friendships, with one’s statements and views on art revealing their thought processes.
Secondly, art can aid in understanding and accepting others, altering our perspectives on certain matters. For instance, a simple graphic work can reveal the artist’s psyche, emotions, and thoughts conveyed through their creation.

In summary, art plays a vital role in the everyday life of modern individuals, highlighting issues, giving a voice to the marginalized, and effectively addressing societal problems. It nurtures the human desire for beauty and can be an object of reflection. Only nature achieves perfection.
“A work of art is not superior unless it is, at the same time, a symbol and the exact expression of a reality.”- Guy de Maupassant
